The Awesome Graffiti of Tenerife

Tenerife - the largest of Spain’s beautiful Canary Islands - is home to an enormous amount of creativity, from the flower carpets of the Corpus Christi celebrations right through to world renowned architecture such as Santiago Calatrava’s stunning Auditorio de Tenerife. Another visual treat to be experienced, especially in the island’s capital, Santa Cruz, is the enormous amount of unique street art on show throughout the year. The residents of Santa Cruz are extremely proud of the majority of the city’s graffiti, and so they should be. (more…)

Blue Marlin Fishing In Tenerife.

From May to October each year, the unmistakable yet ellusive Blue Marlin migrates to the subtropical waters around Tenerife and the remainder of the Canary Islands. This seasonal hotbed of game fishing is further enhanced by the reported average size of the Blue Marlins caught in these fantastically clear waters which averages between 400 to 600+ lb and upwards of 800 lb. To accommodate those visitors to Tenerife who seek the thrill of the chase, there are an abundance of Sport fishing boats throughout the island, many of which can be chartered by individuals or groups. The photo above was taken in 2007 and shows a portion of what was to become the world’s largest sand painting, situated in the Town Hall square of La Orotava in Tenerife. When completed, the enormous creation covered an area of 9′250.7 ft² and remained in place for the duration of the town’s Corpus Christi celebrations, a beautifully creative tradition which has taken place on an annual basis for generations.
